Essential Buildings
Every base needs these core structures to function. Prioritize building them in this order:
Base Core Functions
The Base Core protects all buildings within its radius during Solar Ruptures. It also serves as the primary target for enemy attacks. Place it in a defensible position away from the main material flow.
Habitat Purpose
The Habitat provides shelter during Rupture waves. You must be inside when the Rupture hits or you'll take massive damage. Build it near your Base Core for quick access.
Base Layout Tips
Central Plaza Design
Keep a clear central area around your Base Core and Habitat. Ring this space with production lines and defenses. This gives you room to:
- Move freely during attacks
- Kite enemies around obstacles
- Quickly repair damaged structures
- Access all critical buildings fast
Terrain Advantages
- Natural Shields: Build near large rocks, Titanium stacks, or cliff faces for natural protection
- Elevated Ground: Higher terrain gives better visibility for rail placement and turret coverage
- Flat Areas: Prioritize flat ground for production floors to avoid "building not stable" errors
Defense Systems
Turret Placement Strategy
Concentrate your turrets around the Base Core and Habitat rather than spreading them to protect extractors:
- Choke Points: Place turrets in overlapping arcs to create kill zones
- Elevated Positions: Mount turrets on top of Habitats for better coverage
- Ammo Supply: Place small storage containers directly behind turrets for continuous fire
Monolith Attack Mechanics
Understanding how enemy attacks work helps you prepare better defenses:
- Attacks begin after your first Base Core upgrade
- The monolith closest to an upgraded core spawns enemies
- You must be within range of the upgraded core for spawns to trigger
- If you're away from the monolith, enemies will track and attack you directly
Monolith Defense Strategy
Build a wall around the monolith's red border and position 6-10 basic turrets. Combined with your presence, this can repel attacks in ~30 seconds.
Rail System
Rail Basics
Rails serve two purposes: transport materials and transmit power. Key points:
- Rails only operate in one direction
- Uses a "pull" system - machines request items they need
- Different materials can share the same rail lines
- Basic rails handle 120 materials/minute (2/second)
Building Controls
Layout Tips
- Plan your entire production chain before building
- Leave space between buildings for future expansion
- If rails clog, add more lines or reduce connected buildings
- Use manual transport for low-volume items early game
Power Management
Power Basics
- Solar Generators: Primary power source, each provides 10 power
- Auto Distribution: Power flows through connected rails and touching platforms
- Remote Power: Rails transmit power to distant extractors
Power Tips
Check power status via the i button on any building. If you see "insufficient power", add more Solar Generators or check connections. Turn off unused machines to save power.
Surviving Ruptures
Solar Ruptures are periodic events that damage everything outside protected areas:
- Get inside your Habitat before the Rupture hits
- Buildings within Base Core radius are protected
- Structures outside the radius will take damage
- Plan your base layout to keep critical buildings protected
